Natural Marble
Natural marble is a metamorphic rock formed by underground rocks under high temperature and high pressure, and is a medium-hard rock. Its main component is calcium carbonate, accounting for about 50%, and other components include magnesium carbonate, calcium oxide, manganese oxide, silicon dioxide, etc. Because marble contains impurities, it is easy to weather and corrode in the atmosphere, causing the surface to lose its original luster, so marble is only suitable for interior decoration.
The surface of natural marble has small pores and weak anti-fouling ability, so the surface of marble is generally sold after treatment. The advantages of marble are natural patterns, good feel, and high hardness after polishing. The disadvantage is that it is easy to break when the temperature changes drastically and is subjected to external forces.
Since the main component of natural marble is calcium carbonate, dilute hydrochloric acid can be used to distinguish between true and false natural marble. Marble will produce a large number of bubbles, while artificial stone will have only a small number of bubbles or no bubbles.
Artificial Marble
Artificial stone is a composite material made of mineral powder, resin, and pigment by vacuum casting or molding, which can be widely used in public buildings and home decoration. At present, the quality of artificial stone varies greatly, mainly because the manufacturing processes of various manufacturers are very different, which makes the reputation of artificial stone not very good. In addition, the price and quality of artificial stone also vary greatly due to different filling materials.
The advantages of artificial stone are environmental protection and reusability; good processing performance, can be made into various shapes and shapes; in terms of price, it is cheaper than natural marble.
Its disadvantages are lack of realism, rough surface and poor decorative effect.
As for choosing natural marble or artificial stone, it depends on personal preference. Compared with natural marble and artificial stone, it cannot be simply said that one is better and the other is worse. No matter which one you choose, you should try to choose carefully and don’t buy inferior products for cheapness.
