When we install the diamond grinding wheel, we must maintain balance to ensure that the grinding wheel can work properly.
Generally, diamond grinding wheels with a diameter greater than 125mm must be balanced so that the center of gravity of the grinding wheel coincides with its axis of rotation.
An unbalanced diamond grinding wheel will vibrate when rotating at high speed, affecting the processing quality and machine tool accuracy. In severe cases, it may cause damage to the machine and breakage of the grinding wheel. The main reasons for the imbalance are uneven density of various parts of the grinding wheel, asymmetric geometry and eccentric installation. Therefore, before installing the grinding wheel, it must be balanced. There are two types of balance for diamond grinding wheels: static balance and dynamic balance.
Under normal circumstances, only static balancing is required, but in high-speed cutting (speed greater than 50m/s) and high-structure grinding, dynamic balancing must be performed. When balancing, install the grinding wheel on the balance spindle, and then place the grinding wheel and spindle flat on the balance guide rail of the balance frame. The grinding wheel will swing back and forth until it stops. The balanced grinding wheel can remain stationary in any position.
If the grinding wheel is unbalanced, its heavier part will always turn downward. At this time, the position of the balance block can be moved to achieve balance. Well-balanced grinding wheels must be inspected for cracks before being installed on the machine tool spindle. It is absolutely forbidden to use cracked grinding wheels.
During installation, a 0.5-1mm elastic pad should be placed between the diamond grinding wheel and the flange: the diameters of the two flanges must be equal, and their size is generally half the diameter of the grinding wheel. There should be a certain gap between the grinding wheel and the grinding wheel shaft or step flange. , to prevent the thermal expansion of the spindle from cracking the grinding wheel.
How to balance the diamond grinding wheel: Install several balance blocks in the annular groove of the grinding wheel flange, and adjust the position of the balance blocks so that the center of gravity of the grinding wheel coincides with its axis of rotation.
