How to solve the problem of marble floor losing gloss?

If you often go to public places or use marble for decoration, you will find that many floors are losing gloss and dullness, and there are local scratches, holes, cracks and other unsightly phenomena.

How are these phenomena caused? How to solve them?

1. Due to the advancement of stone grinding and polishing processing technology, the surface of natural marble on the market is very dense, and the gloss after polishing can achieve a mirror effect. Therefore, consumers usually think that marble is as hard and airtight as shiny metal or glass materials.

But in fact, natural marble is a microporous material, and its surface is easily damaged by absorbing external pollution. In other words, natural marble, like natural wood, is a breathable material with a porous microstructure (sometimes not easy to observe from the appearance), so it is easy to absorb pollution dissolved by water or oil.

2. In addition, although the polished marble is hard, after a period of use, the marble floor in public places or at home will inevitably wear out due to the hardness of sand continuously brought in from the outside world being higher than the marble surface. At the same time, due to the lack of scientific understanding and protection of marble, hard objects and sharp tools are not protected when mopping the floor, resulting in some scratches on the floor.

3. There is no correct concept of stone maintenance. Experts suggest that in the maintenance of marble floors, mop the floor frequently with a mop and water. Some sewage will penetrate into the stone through the micropores of the marble. Even if the marble surface becomes dirty, the serious thing is that the water vapor will gradually hydrolyze and destroy the marble during the evaporation process.

In addition, some marbles are damaged by tension caused by factors such as sun exposure, floor heating, and dry-wet cycles, which will decompose the internal force of the stone, crack, peel, and weather due to uneven force.

In summary, the important factors are people’s subjective consciousness and objective use, which lead to the increasingly ugly surface of marble.
